I'll try to make this review as short as possible but it will be hard because I have so many positive things to say about Hoang Realty. In 2011, my wife and I traveled to Maine with the dream of relocating from California. We wanted to look at some houses to get a feel of the real estate market and get an insight of living in Maine. I emailed several agents and explained our situation and to see if we could get an agent to help us out. As expected, not many email responses and no call backs, except for Hoa Hoang. Not only did she do it with a smile, she gave us so much valuable info of not just the housing situation in Maine, but the pros and cons of living in Maine in general - the people, the weather, the schools, the job market, etc. Well, fast forward 4 years later, we sold our house in CA and we decided to make the move. Not even sure if Hoa was still working as a real estate agent, we emailed her again to tell her that we were ready to move forward and she was just as excited to help us again as the first time we met her. Also, not only was she still selling houses, come to find out, she started her own real estate company, Hoang Realty! We made a huge list of houses to see and Hoa didn't blink. She had a 3-day schedule set up for us to see the available listings plus additional listings of her recommendation. Not once did she try to talk us out of any properties that we wanted to see. Being from CA, we knew nothing about housing in Maine - heating systems, septic systems, water sources, leech fields, basements, etc., it was all foreign to us. Before we even arrived at a showing, Hoa would have important info of the listing to share with us. Before we entered a house, she would point out things to us that she thought were problematic. Once inside a house, she would point out not only the good things, but the bad as well. What I was most impressed by, is her extensive knowledge of repair and construction costs. If there was something that needed to be fixed, she was quick to throw out a ballpark figure of what we would be getting ourselves into. That kind of knowledge was priceless because the last thing we wanted to do was buy a house and be surprised how much we would have to spend on repairs/renovations. When we finally decided on a house, I was very impressed with Hoa's negotiating skills. She's a fierce negotiator but at the same time, very fair to the other party. Since CA and ME real estate are like night and day, we didn't even know where to start with our opening offer. We trusted Hoa knew what to do and we're glad we did because we probably would have come in with an offer too high. Whether I'm buying or selling a house, I would definitely want Hoa on my side. She provided and exceeded everything we would expect from an agent - friendly, professional, respectful, patient, knowledgeable, honest, and most importantly, she had our best interest. Hoa, thank you for everything you've done for us and taking a chance on us 5 years ago when you had nothing to gain.
